Sometimes feels like the work is never ending, there's still more on my table, including the three custom tailored shirts that I cut out in October, where the fabric was bolted horizontally, rather than vertically, so the yardage amounts were wrong for the custom pattern...
I'm changing directions, a bit late in the game, and working toward new successes - This is the journey of 'Denise Made It'

More Holiday Gifting!
Still more holiday gifts, completely unique, one of a kind. Several boys sweaters/jackets in multiple sizes and styles. I tried to get 3 turtle jackets, but the piecing just didn't work. It looks a little short in the body to me, though I could be completely wrong...
Holiday Place Mats
A lot of holiday place mats and coasters/mug rugs gifted this year, as well as decorations for the home. Hopefully, it helps brighten the holidays for the giftee's!

Boys Holiday Fleece
My boy's holiday fleece, each going with a hanging panel for the home, of the truck and tree in a winter scene. The first was to have a big contrasting pocket, and go over the head, but a mistake took that pocket to be the yoke back of the bigger shirt. The scraps left are so small they will only work as stuffing for pillows of the future. Things never go as expected. Of course, it wouldn't have needed the pocket if I had cut the front on the fold... Ah well, there great for play time jacket/sweatshirts.

Team Tops
I found a piece of fabric, just about a yard, and was able to construct these team tops, sizes 2T and 6, for a birthday that's coming up soon. Her sister's can be put away for another occasion, just perfect for a reward for an accomplishment.
Size 2T, image is centered on the back, too. |
From a tee pattern, lengthened the sleeves, added a pieced scarf |

More Holiday Gifts
Beautiful Jackets!
I found the most beautiful foiled butterfly fabric, perfect for little girl garments. I considered robes, but found there wasn't enough fabric. Instead, I made 'bomber-style' jackets, with hand-crafted elastic bottom, cuffs and collar. I think that they turned out beautifully! Made four different little girl jackets and a matching jacket for Grammy.

Other Projects That are 'In hand'
Just because I'm not posting here, doesn't mean I'm not sewing. I have multiple Christmas presents going, and hope to have them all finished, in time! These are just two sets of the multiple projects I have set myself to finish!
The custom tailored shirts are going to be a long and difficult path to trod. The pin striped fabric from JoAnn's is set horizontally rather than vertically from the bolt, turning and refolding the correct direction leaves me with less than I need to finish these shirts...
There will be five of this project, in multiple sizes, when I am done! |
I have three of these custom tailored shirts to finish, too. |

Table Wreaths and Mug Rugs
This year, for Christmas, I decided I would make a bunch of 'Table Wreaths'. With a small vase, jar or candle in the center, these make great holiday decorations! I saw these while looking for something else, and figured out how to make it, pretty easily. I will put limited directions for how I made these in my 'how-to'. There's a pattern for sale by someone else, somewhere, I am told.

Water Bottle and Snack Carrier
The beverage holster - I've been working on this project for a while now, and just got around to putting them together. Those are two 23 oz sports-style water bottles, but 20 oz soda or smaller bottles all fit in the drink pockets.
The drink section is quilted, with batting, to help keep drinks cooler. There's some towel fabric at the bottom, to help catch condensation, too. The pockets on these 3 are each different sizes, but all will hold a bunch of small snacks. It clips right on to many things, with a carabiner clip, so leaves your hands free.
Clip it onto a purse
Clip it onto a backpack
Clip it onto a loop or a belt
Store some snacks in the pocket
These are just the first 3, of one design!
Teddy Bears 2 bottle holster
Cats 2 bottle holster
Star Wars, zippered pocket over 16 oz bottles
Star Wars 2, w/23 oz bottles
Groot, zippered pocket over bottles
Rocket, zippered pocket over bottles

A Baby Bag
Just finished! 'Diaper bag' isn't inclusive enough for all the different items you can find in a bag for babies. Or maybe it will never be used for a baby, maybe they will use it for themselves, an over-night bag, a carry-on bag, or a gift bag for someone else. It's their bag, so it's up to them!

When You Have Some Extra Time
This beautiful quilt is complete, and ready to be mailed. It's a Quilt of Valor, and the most time consuming quilt I've ever made (up to this point.) Each 6" block (center square and framing triangles - 29 to 32 pieces) took an hour to assemble (that's not cutting, fixing or building into a strip...) I made it as a quilt-as-you-go, and the instructions are on my How-To pages. There were days I was ready to toss my sewing machines, and by the end, I was really done with all of it. But now, I don't think of the frustrations, the imperfections, the mistake I made that effected several rows of the finished quilt.
Now it's done, and I am thinking of the next thing I want to create.
Now it's done, and I am thinking of the next thing I want to create.
I began with blocks (5" here)
Laid them out and added triangles
Until patterns emerged
Built out strips of blocks
Then began quilting a corner
And adding the next strip to be quilted
So that slowly but surely
A quilt was emerging
And finally, it was finished
And from a distance, it's beautiful
And ready to go to it's recipient
And the instructions are in my 'How-To'
